African American Women in the Military

In honor of Dr. Maya Angelou, this article highlights the importance of African American women narratives in the military service whose stories usually go unacknowledged and the importance of why these stories must be told! This story highlights what I discussed in my thesis around women of color, particularly black women and the crucial need for a safe space and access to platforms that allow them to not only share their story but also have that story be heard, respected and taken in without undermining the storyteller’s story.
